First Meeting

In a little cafe in Hongdae called Belief, the first meeting of the JNFK, Rescue North Korea Book Club, took place.  Our first book under discussion is  Nothing to Envy - Ordinary Lives in North Korea by Barbara Demick, a correspondent for the Los Angeles Times who covered both Koreas.  She moved to Seoul in 2001,  where she began to talk to North Koreans who had defected to South Korea.  She wrote a series of articles focused on former residents of Chongjin, a city in the NW corner of λΆν•œ.  Her book, Nothing to Envy, grew out of that original series of articles.

This blog is meant to be a forum for our discussion of the books we share, and the other issues that arise in our meetings at the cafe.  Anyone is welcome to join.

MEETING TIME: Sundays, 12noon-1:30pm
MEETING PLACE: Belief Cafe, ν™λŒ€
See you here, or see you there!
